Here’s Looking at Q: Tiny Size, Giant Power

Q is so much more than the tech-toting genius behind James Bond. It’s also the beloved, ultra-portable thermal cycler from Quantabio. (Though we’re pretty sure Q the person would be really jazzed about Q the instrument. We’d watch that movie.)

It’s been nearly six years since we launched the Q, and we can’t get enough of this little powerhouse. Based on what we see at conferences and in literature citations, it seems our customers feel the same. The Q has been a game-changer for scientists, allowing for robust and reliable qPCR thermal cycling in labs and in the field with no calibration needed. At just 4.5 pounds and small enough to pop into a backpack, Q has been used in some truly remote locations to enable on-the-scene science that was never possible before. Researchers can connect as many as 10 instruments with Bluetooth to process up to 480 samples in a single data set, generating data in less than half an hour. (Find out more in our detailed instrument brochure.)

Even though customers have been rocking the Q for years, we’re still focused on improvements to deliver the best experience possible. That’s why we launched a new extended warranty program to give users peace of mind that their Q will be with them for years. Now customers can select the right plan for their needs, and get five-year coverage that will help them save on repairs, replacement parts, labor, and travel.

We’ve also developed a suite of tutorial videos for using Q software. Whether it’s a general introduction or specifics about how to start a run, these handy resources will make it easy to get started with the Q.
