Illumina’s TruPath Genome Performs Better with Our Lysis Kit

Here at Quantabio, we follow news within the sequencing field the way other people follow the stock market or the NFL draft. Which is to say: obsessively. Earlier this year, we were excited about Illumina’s launch of its TruPath™ Genome whole human genome workflow solution at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology meeting.

The goal of TruPath Genome is to eliminate traditional library prep, minimizing the hands-on time required to sequence up to 16 whole genomes per day for the NovaSeq X System or NovaSeq X Plus System. Instead, library prep is performed directly on flow cells from purified DNA. According to Illumina, the approach delivers “unparalleled accuracy and resolution — even across so-called ‘dark regions’ of the genome.”

This stellar performance depends on one key element: high-quality DNA. And that’s where we come in. In an application note produced by Illumina to detail TruPath Genome’s performance with a variety of sample types and quality, it is clear that cleaner input leads to better output. The app note cites our sparQ Lysis Kit as one of the DNA extraction kits evaluated for dried blood spot samples. In fact, our kit is the only third-party offering specifically designed and optimized for this challenging sample type, complete with its own dedicated protocol.

We’re always on the lookout for ways to streamline workflows for our customers, so we think this is a big deal. We’re excited that pairing our sparQ Lysis Kit with TruPath Genome enables a rapid path from purified DNA directly to loading the sequencer.
