The Quantabio team is gearing up to attend this month’s ID Lab Con, the infectious diseases conference hosted by the Association of Public Health Laboratories. It’ll take place March 25-27 at the Pasadena Convention Center in California. With all eyes on emerging public health threats including bird flu, this is a can’t-miss event. - Visit us at booth #601.
ID Lab Con brings together public health and epidemiology experts, clinical laboratory teams, diagnostic developers, and research scientists for deep conversations and inspiring talks. We look forward to spending time at one of the most important conferences in the infectious disease field.
Subrata Panja, associate director of field applications here at Quantabio, will be giving a spotlight talk and presenting a poster at the event. Both will focus on the need for highly sensitive detection for testing RNA viruses such as human influenza, coronavirus, and avian influenza. These pathogens are so widespread, with a dramatic impact on human health, that better tools are needed to improve detection capabilities.
That’s why we developed eQo 1-Step ToughMix, a thermostable and inhibitor-tolerant reverse transcriptase combined with an optimized buffer system that enables accurate detection of RNA pathogens down to just two copies of the target. For optimal utility, this product works with both pure and crude RNA samples. Unlike conventional qPCR reagents, it’s delivered in a convenient dry format that can be shipped and stored at ambient temperatures, eliminating the cost and environmental impact of dry ice and foam packaging. Once the lyophilized beads are rehydrated, the product works as a standard 4x liquid mix.
Subrata’s talk and poster will include detailed assessments of the eQo 1-Step ToughMix performance and robustness, including how it worked with the Influenza SARS-CoV-2 (Flu SC2) Multiplex Assay from CDC and how it fared when used without traditional extraction processes. (Spoiler alert: It worked really well!)
If you’ll be attending ID Lab Con, we hope you stop by one of Subrata’s presentations. Here’s the info:
